Chị Nghĩa claims to be the pet project of a chef with gainful employment elsewhere who just wanted to bring her favorite takes on northern cuisine to the masses. Usually, I'd suspect that to be empty hyperbole, but it seems fairly realistic in this case. For the quality of food one gets, it seems like the price could be considerably higher. In fact, I know that I've paid much more on countless occasions for significantly less. The restaurant is tastefully designed without a hint of pretentiousness. It seems well suited to the casual night out with friends, small group events, or entertaining visitors. I'll definitely be making regular appearances.

This is a very impressive new space they've just moved into. Being familiar with Tandoor's space in Hanoi, I did a bit of a double take when this greeted me in downtown Saigon. I never thought of Tandoor on this kind of scale. It seemed worth giving a shot, just to see if there was a menu overhaul to accompany the new venue.
Despite the space, it seems things have changed much in the kitchen. It isn't bad by any means, but just like I remember from other (less opulent) experiences, it just seems to lack a little something to put it over the top. Being relatively new to Saigon, I'm not sure where it fits into the Indian restaurant hierarchy quite yet. It's certainly a fair choice for those times when the urge for spice can be held back any longer, but I'm hoping to find better as I continue to hit new spots.

For a relatively simple building, this place has a pretty nice feel. The space is wide open, but hasn't lost as much intimacy as one would expect. When the place is full, it's easy to wander and mingle without feeling too cramped. There's plenty of space around the pool table, which is nice after years of playing in tiny Asian bars that are trying to do too much with too little space.
The food is standard pub fare, but it doesn't let you down when you're looking for a little something to settle your stomach for a long night of drinking. On the whole, the place is just a solid choice for a casual night out for the usual pub activities.

Where do people typically rent their motorbikes from in Saigon?
Are these travel companies that offer to get you a "business" visa for $100+ reliable? I've heard that they just use their company or a friend's company as the sponsor. What happens if they get busted? Is your visa revoked? Are you deported?
