So, we have found out that we are going to be living in Vung Tao, a beach city south of Ho Chi Min. We are going to be there for about 1 1/2 years, so I was wondering do we need malaria tablets shots? What other appropriate shots do we need to get?

Advice for buying a new Honda Wave?
I'm looking to buy a new Honda Wave Alpha.
The Honda website says that the "recommended retail price (including VAT)" is 12,900,000. I visited a couple shops today that quoted me 14,500,000 and 14,820,000 for the honda wave alpha.
What's the deal? I've heard that I should be able to get a good deal on a motorbike since sales are way down for the year and the dealers are desperate to make some sales.
Do you have to bargain pretty hard when buying a bike in Saigon? Are there certain districts where the price would be lower? Are there certain times of the year when the I'd be able to get a better price?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Which area to live
Will be heading on down from Hanoi next couple of days. We are staying in a hotel while we look for a nice apartment to rent.We would like somewhere fairly quiet and safe, maybe around an expat area. OH will be working in the city so not to far out. Can anyone suggest good areas to start looking

We are moving to Vietnam in 2 months. I was wondering which city would you choose to live in given the chance? Hanoi, Ho Chi Min or a city 1/2 between them. What the positives/ negatives of any of them?

Basketball (Playing) Locations
Anyone recommend basketball places? Would like a more private place to practice work, on my schools, and then a good place for a good game. Now that I'm any good, but VN style of ball is no fun. More suited for Western "rules" and understanding. Don't mind paying a premium for both, having fun is important.

What do I need to do to get a motorbike license? I know that tourists renting a motorbike for a short time don't need a license, but I heard that expats living here do need one. Can anyone give insight?

Hotel rec and online map info
Am coming down to Saigon for a brief w/e conference at the end of July. Wondering if anyone can pass on the following:
1. An online map of Saigon showing districts/neighborhoods. Want to be in a hotel near the conference, and thats at Reunification Palace.
2. Any affordable hotels within walking distance to Reunification Palace . Price range for 2 people under $50, if possible.

How are Vietnamese handling the currency changes?
I've been monitoring the news from the U.S. and it seems like the Vietnamese Dong is in the process of being devalued (by up to 25%) in order to protect the country from an economic crash. Are people in Vietnam feeling any difference in the way they're able to earn/spend money?
I'll be arriving in Vietnam in a couple of months, and the exchange rate could be anything from 16000 dong to 18500 dong to one US dollar.
I want to buy a motorbike when I get there, and it seems like the exchange rates will work in my favor so I'll pay less.
